would i be able to legally bring aluminum followers for the classic 22 mag's that hold back the slide on the last round without paperwork legally?

as they are just machined aluminum blocks...

no magazines, or springs or plugs that can make the 10 round mag into a prohibited device..

Get the springs as well

Piece of advice...

If you are going to get them, spend a little extra and get the improved springs.

I have 3 followers in my Sig 226 conversion mags. 2 with the springs and 1 without. The ones with the springs have never had a single problem through hundreds of shots fired. The original spring misses the hold open every 1-2 out of 10. They really are an improved product that Sig should have included originally.

Don't get the improved plug however, as then you would be crossing into hi-cap territory.

oh i know i read about that...
definitely don't want that..

also did the mags fit 11 rounds? it also said that you might be able to squeeze a tight 11 with the aluminum followers
did you get a stainless guiderod?

Follower, Spring and Guide Rod

Yes I did get the stainless guide rod. Well worth the money.

Stock out of the box my conversion would run about 95% perfect (pretty good for a conversion) with occasional function/cycling problem. Put in the stainless guide rod and kept it well greased and havent had a single function problem since (1000's shots fired - outstanding for a conversion). Also, the conversion upper likes to run wet. I use a light grease (Slide Glide Lite) on the rod and rails and its as reliable as my 9mm upper (also greased Slide Glide regular).

Another benefit...The weight of the stainless rod brought the conversion weight closer to my 'real' upper and is one less piece of plastic in there.

As for capacity I found the opposite, with the spring and longer follower I have to "squeeze' in 10 while 9 is comfortable.
