Hey so stupid story. Twisted then broke my follower spring for zastava m85 in 762x39 after the follower got wedged. I can’t seem to find a welder to fix it as the metal is thin. Calling around and emailing various gun stores and dealers for spare part. Zastava not helping etc etc.

Anyone know what to do / fix / modify a different one from a old parts bin etc etc.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

You are not like to find a welder who will bother, as the heat of welding changes the temper of the spring.

Best bet, if not able to source from stock somewhere, is to put the micrometer to it, sort out the thickness and other dimensions of the spring that you need, and see what you can find.

Numrich carries them but is currently out of stock, you could contact them to see when they'll be getting some. Western Gun Parts might carry them, have all the information ready to give them.

I've used Mauser 98 follower springs in other rifles, usually takes some cutting and grinding to get the right fit. My go to for broken follower springs as they are cheap and easy to find.

To big.

OP, use the spring from an old AK magazine or one of the knock of mags, such at those found in the Howa magazine.

If Numrich doesn't have the flat leaf Zastava spring, use one from another rifle.

That spring doesn't have to be a flat leae type. The coil type springs out of AR mags should fit as well, but you will have to cut it down for length/compression and make it fit into the slot on the bottom of the follower and floorplate.
