I've had the gun out to the range a couple of times now. I finally got to try it drawing from the holster. It's definitely a faster gun than my stock service pistol M&P9, though I need a better holster. It's hanging up on the Fobus paddle one I've got so far, despite trying to adjust the fit.
One of the officials who runs our club IDPA shoot checked it out and pronounced that it had a "good action", though we didn't shoot it. For a $650 (sale price) 1911, I think it's going to be pretty good once I get it fully sorted out. With my short, stubby fingers I need an extended mag release for fast ejection of the magazine, but it has to be fitted to the gun.
As to how it shoots: I brought it to the range with tools to set the sights and put a rubber block with scoops in it (is there a name for the things?) to hold your hands very steady. I put 3 rounds of Blazer Brass 9mm right in the bullseye and I figured it didn't need any adjustment!
In contrast, I also readjusted the sites of my M&P9 and this is the result of shooting a magazine of 10 rounds at the same target, same distance (about 7m), also from the block.
I'm not the world's best shot, but I was impressed with the 1911!
