For a boy - ISSC or SR-22 - pros and cons

tanfoglio appeal is what he needs but you might like it more than he will ,,check it out,,it works flawlessly,,i got 2000 rounds in mine and no issues, it eat everything,

Maybe I am nuts but I would not purchase a semi automatic ANYTHING for a 7 year old shooter. To me it doesn't matter if he squeezed off a couple rounds from a single shot when he still had an umbilical cord attached to him. A seven year old hasn't the judgement or the attention span to handle a rifle that is hot immediately following the shot. Some mechanical manipulation required between shots is a good thing for a young shooter. Some kids are more mature than others but they are still kids and are prone to lapses in judgement and attention and just one can be fatal.

I somewhat agree with this. However if the child has been shooting simce s/he was 5 and can work a bolt action with respect, why not buy a 10/22 and load only 5 rounds or so. It's all about respect and knowing the rules. I'm guessing there are some 7yo kids who could outshot me and you. They may be few but they are out there!

I'm not talking about anyone outshooting anyone. I'm talking about mental development and in my opinion a seven year old child should not have a semi automatic firearm.

I'm guessing you didn't grow up on a farm, or know kids that have. I truely think we coddle our kids compared to how they did it in the past. As I said, it's all about respect and knowing the rules. But hell no I wouldn't give a 7yo a gun unsupervised, so if I'm there watching him/her and he knows the rules, why not?
