First love. I feel very nostalgic looking at these posters. I still remember last serial number of my AKS74U :(

I only had AKMS for a few months before it was replaced with AK74 with folding stock for us..

May I ask what context you used one in the Russian military? I'm very intrigued!

I don't remember the serial number of the first C7 ever issued to me, which was in basic, but I remember the serial number from the one I carried on my Combat Engineer training. We were in for a very, very bad day if anybody forgot theirs. Pretty brutal 18 weeks and I'd never do it again, but it sure was a unique experience.

All AK's issued to me were used as intended :)
And not in Russian Army - I served the country what not exist anymore - USSR (CCCP).

Would be very interested to hear your stories and experiences/opinions on the different guns you got to use.
 
As much as I love guns but honestly I didn't have much enjoyable experience to actually remember my first type 56's serial number. Lol, it was beaten the crap out of it by the previous owner but it still works for what matters.

LOL the only reason i still remember my last AKSU number is because I had a chance to hand pick it with sn full of 7s. the lucky number we all love - every bit helps :)

Yes but on a bigger scale. There was a time when a civilian could hunt with a semiauto AK in Canada. Its been a long time since a round was fired legally by a civilian owned AK along with many other prohibited firearms unfortunately. Many still exist in the collections of so-licensed owners but the CFO will not issue an ATT to the range any more for prohibs.
 
not quite true, you can still fire them if they life on a licenced range.
But you can't get a ATT to move to another range.

I'm happy to say that I was able to carry a Type 56 in the bush, in Canada, legally and with a regular capacity mag fully loaded. I had one as my "hiking gun" as a young man - strangely, I never had the urge to destroy everything in sight, the AK must have been defective.
