My friend back across the ocean finally came through - sent me SKS original manual (pics of each page) and a couple of old style posters.
Here you have it - sorry it's in Russian of course..

These next ones are ballistics and bullet rise for each rear sight setting. Note speed is meters/sec and measurements in cm not inches

Thanks Sochi for posting these! {translation anyone :p}

& I see where you where going with that..made me run & grab Ole' Trusty outta the safe just now, Yes, the fixed mag does open on a closed bolt- had me thinking for a sec. too-even though I shoulda {already} known.
bolt closed, magazine open? what kind of sks is that? lol

Yep, Jerry Miculek loads his sks upside down bolt closed, mag open and drops the ammo in! Different!
I think the pic is showing how to empty a mag without running them all through the chamber!

I wonder if Corwin Arms or Westrifle can find a couple crates of these manuals in Europe somewhere!!

Hmmm, some great inspiration for next winter's cross country ski outings...

here is some more inspirational and "educational" pages from that original SKS Field Manual :)
*Note: not much use of a sling. After my recent Mapleseed event I'd modify this manual to use it more for a better shooting position support!
