Watched this show about WW1 hosted by Norm Christie. Awesome show, explains the weapons the battles and has tons of footage. Battle of Ypes was insane to say the least. I think I saw my No1 Mk3 during the show:p .
You should all check it out I saw it on Access & TVO here in Ontario.
Made me remember how proud I am to be a Canadian!

"To the fallen, I thank you".

Old news. Has been shown regularly on the History Channel for about 4 years now. Good show though... I like how they visit all the major cdn war cemeteries. Really puts things in perspective.

Maybe old news Claven2 but Norm Christie is now booking tours to go in October! Man Id love to go. Its pricey at about $4500 CDN. Catch ya later.

Nevermind - found it.

Maybe I'll go next year ;) Looks cool! (now to try and convince my wife to go on a battlefield tour...)

Hello,

You don't need to pay Norm Chistie $4500 to go on a battlefield tour.

Just do some small research. Get the Official Canadian History of the Great War by Nicholson because it has some of the best maps for what units were where on given days. Use Google earth and compare the maps and figure out where you can go and where you want to go.

I have done this before and seen some pretty cool untouched WW1 trench lines. Just make sure that you talk to the farmer or whoever first, tell him you are Canadian and show up with some Calvados (or other liquer to offer him a drink with) and they tend to let you right in.

You can find really cheap and really good quality bed and breakfasts all over France and Belgium.

If you do it yourself, you will be much happier than having to follow a schedual.

Hey Claven If your wife dont go still consider going, maybe I'll tag along to maybe we could have a gunnutz tour group. What do ya say?? If we could get 8 to 10 guys we could get a decent discount.

Cam S , your right about the do it yourself tours but the thing that is missing is the brilliant historical mind of Norm Christie. He can give dates, divisions, Battles, names etc. If your gonna go, go big and do it right IMHO!
