Hello Gents,

I don't have access to a Mosin-Nagant M44 otherwise I'd whip out a tape measure myself.

While I know the barrel is approximately 20.5 in long, how long would it be if you cut it at the bayonet boss (so you'd have a barrel that is uniform diameter).

Hope this comes across correctly and doesn't seem too stupid.

Thanks again.

Why not buy an m38?

Besides... why cut it at all? Kindof ruins most of it's value and costs you money to do it...

At worst if you found one with a buggered mount, why not just turn the mount down?

You're proposing the bubba-ing of a historical firearm?

Agree with the above stated. M38's are cheap, get one now! Who has 'em, Trade Ex, Frontier, Elwood Epps? I bet it'd be under $200 with shipping.

I have a M44, I removed the bayo with no permanent damage, to have a backup bush deer rifle. The bayo (and the rear sight too) are sitting quietly in a dry place, and when the time will come, I will be able to put the aprts back on the rifle and no Bubba-fication will have harmed the milsurp appeal of the firearm.

Hmm, now that I am talking about it, I should look at the M38's for sale... maybe I should... :D
