I like maple stocks; my muzzleloader has a 42" barrel and is stocked in premium curly maple. But the builder didn't forget to stain it! If that wood were stained properly, the grain would be subtle streaks of gold on a dark background. The kindest thing I can say about that rifle is that it's disappointing.
