Like the title says.

Which is the best all around way to clean casings?

1) regular tumbler with corn or walnut shells.
2) the ultrasonic
3) a side mounted tumbler with the RCBS liquid mixt
3) a side mounted tumbler with stainless media

I presently use option 1, but would like to cut down on some of the other activities, like cleaning primer pockets, trying to remove as much carbon build-up from the inside of the case

There is no quick easy fix in cleaning cases..

SS will peen necks if left in too long, pins stick in cases, it's messy.

Vibe media tumblers are dirty, noisy, media sticks in flash holes, won't perfectly clean cases

Ultrasonic cleaners are a bit messy, won't perfectly clean all flash holes, won't polish to a mirror finish

And anything that makes your brass wet will result in having to dry it back out again....

Purely by results I would say the SS media does the best cleaning job but it's a pain getting the pins all out of the cases, the ultrasonic machine I use is dead simple and can clean thousands of cases in one hour with less then perfect flash holes... Pick what's important to you and look at the drawbacks to each and choose the lesser of all evils.

how about a vibratory with ceramic balls? saw this looked good. anyone tried?

That was running the 50 cal shell's for 3 hour's with 30 per load.
The 30mm were done by themselve's as an expirement.

I use LEE lube,alway's have so I've had wet brass for 25+ year's now.It still shoot's OK.
US is done in water,correct?

I actually just bought an ultrasonic cleaner, figured that was a good way to clean my pistols and such as well.....do you all just use water with them? I've heard Varsol works pretty good too....any special forumula I should try?

1st. I use a vibrating tumbler with walnut shells to take gravel and junk off the outside of the case.
2nd. Resize/deprime/trim and go gauge.
3rd. Stainless steel tumble for a couple of hours.
4th. Seperate brass and pins, place over floor vent to dry over night.

The brass ends up looking like its gold plated.
