So my GSG 16 has about 750 rounds thru it. Upon returning from a day of shooting I take it apart to clean and notice what can be seen in the picture, small slivers of metal. They are coming from the metal bar that is shown in the picture. My question is this, why would the bolt assembly be slamming back that hard to cause this to happen? Gun is cleaned after every outing.

I'd consider backing off on the power of whatever cartridge you're shooting. I use CCI SV exclusively in my GSG-16 and have replaced the factory springs with a slightly weaker gauge to ensure it cycles reliably. There's no metal coming off anything. I tested carefully as I fitted the new springs for length to be sure there wasn't any excess impact, and it has worked out nicely. Having heard a number of people reporting cracked bolt carriers and other breakage when using Velocitors and other 'hot' ammunition, I respect the limits of this fun little piece of plastic and choose to shoot subsonics.

What ammo are you using?

I had used some CCI Stingers but was warned against that so quit using them. It has been cleaned since that as well.

Using Win Super X 1280FPS, Win Super X 1435 FPS (haven't shot these yet) Win Power Point 1320 FPS

I was shooting the Win Super X 1280 and the Win Power Point 1320 and noticed this when I got home and took it apart 2 days ago.

Could it be that you really didn't notice it when you shot the stingers? You probably compressed the springs so they are not as effective.

You check the hammer? As I bet there is wear on it as well.

Nope I had it apart and cleaned it after the stingers.

I was thinking that about the springs as well

No other wear any where else I looked

I have contacted GSG directly as well to see what they may have to say about this and if it is a spring issue perhaps they can help.
