Straight from the manufacturers mouth "IT IS A MODIFIED AK BOLT SYSTEM". I can see why it was rejected from the scar compition. It is a rifle that is a bastardization of everything. opens like an AK, sort of AR lower, M60 style locking collar for dirt and crap removal from the lugs. Fn metric style charging handle, 4 postion gas adjustment. Two stage trigger for non military users. 45 degree movement of the selector from safe to semi. Bolt hold open looks like crap, just a tiny peice of galvanized metal that you can see the snip marks on. Stock is way better than an AR, but the whole rifle is heavier than an AR, and feels bulky. the screw under the chamber is for "a quick change bbl". I prefer the term easily changed bbl as a quick change is push the button, or pull the lever. This feature I asked "are you not worried that that will wear out and the bbl will fall out?" The reply was "It has a heli-coil in there to make it stronger."
Also asked when shipping will take place. Answer was "soon". I asked what parts have you not made yet? "we just got the lower reciever castings, what we have here is a one off." "So just the recievers are slowing you down?", "Well we don't have any gas tubes made up yet." Asked about the other calibers. He was unsure about what mags they would use, maybe SR25, or BM 10 mags for .308, and an in house designed and made mag for 7.63x39. said nobody wants to rock a mag into a rifle. said hk mags look good for consumers but they are big and ugly. I asked so where is the bolt. His reply was "we don't want anybody to see it until we start shipping."
The claim is that they have shot over 15000 rounds through each of their test rifles without ANY parts failures. So I said "As good as AK reliablity." His reply was "Getting close."
OK rifle but I have better things to buy first.
I spent almost 2 hours with him going over the parts and functionality with him this morning. So there was a lot more to the conversation. But I can see them losing the competion on just the bbl screw alone.
