Hello, I just got my 870 express in the mail today and noticed the fore end slides back and forth about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch after the trigger is pulled. it seems sloppy to me. It is fine when the round is chambered. I have never owned a pump action shotgun before. Is this normal? And also, can I shoot any type of slug through this thing as long as it is 2 3/4 in or 3 inch? I have a box of winchester 1 oz 2 3/4 inch hollow point rifled slugs that I got off a friend. Thanks for the reply's.

Once the trigger is pulled the action lock is released, and the forend can move. Perfectly normal. There are some slugs which should not be fired through a full choked barrel; a warning would be on the box if this is the case. If your slugs are lead Foster type ones, there should be no problem.
