I have an early 80's 24C combo in .22/20. The forearm was getting sloppy (it came off once while shooting) so I took a look and noticed that the wood had cracked between the forward bolt hole and the routed channel where the attachment mechanism fits in. I picked out the wood and filled the void with JB Weld (thats what I had on hand) leaving enough room for the bolt. I reattached the mechanism and it holds alot firmer now. The problem is that when I break open the action it is now very stiff and I have to assist it to open it fully. It use to drop smoothly. What should I do to fix this?
