Ive got an older beretta a303 and the forearm has some minor play. The metal gas port cap can rattle back and forth and i cant take it off as it appears rivited thru the fore end wood. Tightening the cap draws the metal end cap flush against the lug which allows possibly shunken over time wood to slide. Its not much. Just enough to irritate me. I thought of cutting a rubber O ring and lining the receiver end where it sits captive but thought id ask if anyone knows of a proper fix first

I fixed my older Beretta A302 by folding a piece of black electrical tape over the base of the fore end and then pushing it into the fore end socket on the receiver. Any excess tape can be trimmed with a razor after the install. I managed to fit mine right without trimming. Worked great and added a slight cushion effect. I guess this isn't a proper fix but it works and can be easily removed with no damage to the metal or wood.

If it is only 1/64, it may have just shrank, you could try re-hydrating it. (or wait till warmer/wetter weather) but a shim at the receiver end sounds more appropriate.
