Hello to all?

If this post has been already done please forgive me but I could not find the thread. I have an older pre 2006 Mossberg 500a and I am following every procedure that I have seen on YouTube on changing the stock Forend to a tactical ATI Forend and while everything comes out accordingly the only problem I have is removing the actual Forend. For some reason it just does not want to come out. I've looked inside to see if there is an obstruction and it doesn't seem to be any. What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance

Aris

There is a nut that needs to be unscrewed. You need a tool or you can make one. There are several videos on YouTube. Or some of the old Mossys you just can't change the forend. You need to buy a new forend assembly.

What I forgot to mention is that I purchased a new forend assembly to replace the old wooden stock one. Problem is , I've followed all the steps in the videos on YT right up to the point where you slide the old stock off the gun. That's where things get sticky. The sliders don't want to detach or slide out from inside the reciever so I can slide out the forend. I look inside to see where they may be latched in but don't see anything. I have to completely remove the forend to unscrew it from the tune so I can replace it with the new one and that's where the problem lies. It won't slide out.

Try laying the gun upside down and pushing the rails down and pull, sometimes you need to wiggle it a little bit

Interestingly enough, I called mossberg and was on the phone with them for an hour. Even the tech guy was baffled. Then he went out on a limb and found that with my model being older you have to remove the mag tube by unscrewing it completely! It slid right out afterwards. Thanks for your responses guys!
