I said I would not buy another firearm until I quit smoking, well I LIED today I ordered a Rem. 870 Express. Once I get it it's going to become a tacticool shotty that's for damn sure.

I'll be one firearm short for the Napanee 4 gun shoot in November, cant win them all.

This is what I'll have for the Napanee shoot if I can make it there:

Remington 700 5r milspec 308
Remington 870 Express
Springfield XD40 Tactical

If I buy a carbine my girlfriend will divorce me lol.

Not bad. :p 10 Hail Mary's penance for your sins so far.

The initial purchase isn't so bad. When you start adding, modding and tacticooling.... well, your knees may end up wearing permanent marks on your carpet beside your bed.

Go fast gear is expensive these days.

Congrats on the new gun.

Don't worry about that smoking Johnny! You will quit when you are ready. I tell no lies - my dad quit cold turkey over 10 years ago and he was a life time smoker before that. I quit about 7 years ago and I chewed AND smoked!

The foolish firearm forum folk are admonished not hold up important gun purchases on such foolishness!

The government wants to keep smoking so you don't collect your pension. Everytime you light up the government smiles. Quit smoking and piss of the government.

Quitting smoking sucks. I've been on again/off again since I was ten. If you still smoke, switch to Canadian Classics. They have less chemicals, additives, etc. Makes it easier to cut back. Their is a pill I tried, can't remember the name for it. It's a non nicotine based pill. It works only short term, though. I quit for 5 months, then started again. The patch, sucks. The gum is better, if you can stomach the taste. The first time I tried the gum, I had a cigarette afterwards to get the taste out of my mouth. No joke. However, the citrus flavoured ones is okay. Haven't tried the cinnamon one yet. Good luck, and remember. The money you save on tobacco can be used for more ammo.

You haven't got it yet? The purchase isn't complete until the goods are handed over. You can quit smoking any time before the delivery and you are in the clear. Hopefully, you didn't give any assurances about not starting smoking again within a particular time frame. ;)

Hey if quitting is a beeoch try Champix (prescript)(not an advertisement or attempt at hijack-a legitimate excuse for a reasonable purchase)-if that is what you want.
and the bonus kick a$$ dreams to boot..
and if it dont work out you can send me (noob) the Rem 5r.
All kidding aside it worked(but I chewed, copp-big tin--in 8 hrs) thats only 50-80 cigs worth if Nicotine-but the 12 week treatment is $$$ -about $121.00 per month

congrats on the aquisition-

I was a very heavy smoker 2 packs a day. The only way to quit is cold turkey. No nicotine products whatsoever. Just stop. It really is that simple. Not easy, but simple. It gets easier over time. The first couple of weeks are pretty rough, but then on it becomes easier by the day.

You owe it to yourself to live long enough to shoot the 870 as long as possible. Please. Think of your guns. Whre are they going to be without you?

You will quit when your ready. I've done it a dozen times and still smoke. Tried champix the spring. Worked great till i got off it. Few beers, game of poker and back at it again. I said Id quit when first baby was born, then when the second was born, then when we bought a new house, then when a bought a new BLR. Dont quit trying.

ya I said the same thing a while back. No one likes a quitter though right?

Making promises to quit for anything other then your own will wanting to do not work I have found. When you truly want to quit, you'll do it. Don't hold yourself back by other means.

Yup. I tried to quit dozens of times and always failed. Finally I did manage it. I had to stop drinking for several months too and it was one of the toughest things I ever did in my life. Ya just gotta keep trying and don't get discouraged.

Funny you should say that, I quit smoking 4 months ago and that is my reward. Every time my wife buys a carton (she still smokes), I buy a box of ammo...Keeps the ammo tin full, and helps keep me off the darts. BTW shooting #### is way more relaxing than smoking anyways.
