Forgotten Weapons: Canadian Experimental Lightweight No4 Enfield

I held one of these once, owned by a local fellow. To say that I was jealous of this guy would be the euphemism of the year. From the few dozens which were made, who knows how many are left...

My opinion: the "wandering zero" might have been better described as a "flinch". The no.5 butt pad does nothing to reduce felt recoil.

Cool rifle though.

6lb 9oz.... How does that compare to the jungle carbine?

edit - wikipedia says 7lb 1oz for the jungle carbine. So damn, I guess that sucker is light.

Aye,
I have a Jungle Carbine.
I've shot 3" Magnum Buck that didn't kick as bad as shooting .303 out of that thing. Had an M44 Mosin that I would put 50-60 rounds through in an evening wearing a t-shirt and with the stock issue steel but plate.
The light weight of the Jungle Lee and the 2" wide hockey puck "recoil pad" are punishing.
It probably shoots better than I can keep myself from flinching every time I pull the trigger on it lol

...so much for any hopes I've ever had of owning one of the Lightweight Rifles.

BTW, how many knew that AIA was investigating doing up a run of these? That was a few years ago and I suspect never came to fruition.
