Last year I thought the US Gov't service was outstanding with a confirmed approval of my application to temporary import my handguns into the US to be able to compete in IDPA competitions back in my hands seven days after I sent it to them by FAX. They emailed me the approved form for printing.

Not this year! I had it back 24 hours after I faxed it in this year on Wednesday. I received their email yesterday. Now that is service.

Bob, you can email applications now, no need to use fax.
I know but it is easier to just fax them. I print the forms out, do separate lists for the guns I want to take and the ammo I want to bring. I then just fax them. 24 hour service is about as good as it gets. I assume once you establish a pattern or they have done enough background checks on you things go easier. Anyway I sent them a email thanking them for their excellent service. My PAL comes up for renewal in December along with my LATT which presently allows transport ti all the Western Provinces and border crossings. What do you think? 24 hour service from the CFO. LOL

I've had good results with the CFO in BC. I mean alternate storage location approval in 20 hrs. The difference is the government serves the US population, whears in canada we serve the government.

Its pretty telling by the phrase in which USA law is made to believe in, Life, Liberty and pursuit of happiness while Canada is Order, Peace and good government.

On balance I prefer our system. Order, Peace and Good Government has a rather nice sustainable ring to it.

I did mine the old fashion way, this year. I mailed it in from Alberta on the 4th of January. It was received on the 17th of January, approved on the 26th of January and emailed back to me on the 30th of January.

I was talking to a friend yesterday, he just got a call from BATF on his submission (his first submission ever). Apparently because of the snow problems on the east coast of the US, BATF personal if possible are working from home, which slows the process up. Hope for an early spring down east.
