Can you have a 14.5 upper with pinned/welded FH or brake when going to the US if the oal is longer than 16?

Just make sure that it is pinned and welded good, they will use a torque wrench if they feel like it to make sure it doesn't move.

I believe under US rules and ATF interpretations, that a permanently affixed muzzle device does NOT count towards barrel length.

I'm going strictly on memory here though, I can't recall where I read it.

Anything under a 16" barrel in the US is classed as a "SBR" Short Barreled Rifle and is not allowed. Bummer as I had to go out and buy a new upper so I could shoot a 14.5" barrel in Canada and have a 16" barrel so I can shoot in the US.

I thought that in the U.S., permanently attached muzzle widgets DID count towards barrel length. Just not in Canada.

Having said that, I don't know if it counts for Form 6 purposes.......

That is what professionals refer to as "a mistake". May not bite him in the @ss, but it shouldn't have happened IF it is an M305. Sporting type rifles are not banned, just military style.

Only to Americans. The RCMP has made it clear that any flash hiders and things added on (even if permanently attached) do not count towards barrel length. Overall length I think it does apply for, but not barrel length.

The Americans will measure it with the flash hider (if perm. attached) counting towards barrel length.
