Former German K-98 Rifles: Yugo & Russian still in 8x57 MM, Norwegian in 30-06.

I've got to agree, although I decided against picking up another RUssian rework, Jean was very good in walking me through his selection. If you read his descriptions he's still got some very nice rifles there.

Yugo Refurb (I think)

All original...no scrubbed markings (maybe reblued)

Distinguishing feature according to Claven is the extra stock reinforcing bolt in the pistol grip (ignore the other stuff)

Sadly $700 is more then my budget. :(

Agreed. I LOVE the Norwegian .30-06 rifles, but $700 is just too much money for a reworked K98k in non-original calibre IMHO.

I remember 3 years ago these routinely sold in the $300 range on the secondary market. I should have bought one then... :(

Live and learn.

Those Norwegian .30-06 K98's went on a date with the milling machine and the stamping dies!

Yes, but part of their history. They are collectible IMHO since Norway was a member of the Axis and these rifles soldiered on there well after the war was over. I don't think they were ever surrendered to the allies either. They remained in continuous service after Norway regained independance from the Reich.

I find them more interesting than Yugo or Russian captures.

Well regardless of the probable refurb, it's a pretty rifle :) That stock looks great ;)

Unfortunately, the days of the $50.00 surplus rifles are long gone. Plus the Norwegian destroyed all there remaining stockpiles of K-98 Mauser rifles (Thanks UN), so you won't be seing many mores of these on the market.
