forming brass for 358 Norma

I use. 300 Win Mag but both of my chambers were made longer so that I could use full length Win Mag brass. Works beautifully. If you have a standard. 358, you will need to trim quite a bit off the Win Mag brass. Good luck.

Easiest way is to go .338 Win Mag. Size the neck load and shoot. The case lenght is a non issue as the case stretches anyways.
300 WM is also an easy solution but it needs some extra work.

Ithink Trade Ex had once fired Norma brass available.

I've never had good luck using 300WM brass. On the other hand, (as others have said), .338 WM is easy as pie and despite the shorter resulting neck, I can't see any difference on target or critter than loads shot with the 40 pieces of .358 Norma brass that I have.

I have:redface: a bit of an aversion to forming brass if the 'real' stuff is relatively easy to acquire. I have a pair of rifles in .358 NM and to start with, I picked up seven boxes of Norma factory loads at a local gun show. What quantity of brass I did obtain, I got through Henry at Budget Shooter Supply, a site sponsor listed at the top of this page.
Forming brass, about the only stuff I do form is for an old custom Winchester High Wall I have in 219 Donaldson Wasp and that I form from 30-30 brass.

Now THAT is a process. The Old Man has a Pre-War M70 in 219 DW which is the first centerfire rifle I ever fired. It's also the first one that I ever handloaded and formed brass for. Old forming dies that you have to use in a bench vise and that slimy RCBS case lube. But the rifle is so much cooler than anything you can buy off the shelf. But I need to kick the Old Man's ass as he gave the Unertl that was on the rifle to a friend that helped them after their basement flooded. I don't begrudge him giving him something (the recipient is a good friend of mine) but that scope belongs on that rifle. I'll have to talk to him to secure first refusal should he decide to sell it. The rifle looks stupid with a 15x Weaver on it now. Picture a steam locomotive with a satellite dish.

Wow, that was a real ranty tangent.

Mine is an old custom job Winchester High Wall, made years ago.

I had a Ruger #1 Varminter in 22-250 and when this came available, I thought it would fill the void left by giving my son the #1. I liked the idea that it was all more or less, era correct. Calibre, rifle and scope, which is a 10X J.UNERTAL. And, for what I plan to use it for, it loves 50gr Hornady V-MAX handloads.

Actually, a while ago, after I had posted a photo of it, a gentleman and site member from back east, sent me detailed info on it as it had apparently once been his. He also asked, if I was ever to offer it up for 'adoption', he'd like first kick at the cat.
Last but not least, RCBS was very helpful on forming info and two die set to go from 30-30 to 219DW, oh, and tools and info on neck turning if/when required.
