I’m seeing these dies FL sizer and micro Seater on their website . Just want to make sure its the right dies that I need for 6Br using the Lapua brass( 6br norma).
Forster site only mentions 6BR, might be for the 6br Remington? Or its good for both 6’s BR. Thanks

Important Note about 6mm BR Lapua Brass: From Lapua Direct
Brass is headstamped 6MM Norma BR to meet European CIP requirements but the case dimensions are IDENTICAL to the 6mm BR Remington. This may cause confusion as some people understand the cartridge cases are different in dimensions. In fact it is the chamber dimensions, not the cartridge dimensions that changed. 6mm BR and 6mm BR Norma use the same case specifications however the difference between the two is the cartridge overall length specification with the BR Norma utilizing a longer heavier bullet.
This is the Lapua official statement, unedited, in its pure form for your information.
I just bought a set of Redding custom competition dies in 6mm BR Remington and they work perfectly with Lapua 6mm Norma brass.

I have a Forster set. They are the right ones for the 6Br Norma.

The only funny business about different 6BR specifications I know of that is a factor in the modern day, is apparently 6BR Alpha brand brass is different sized than Lapua brass, and requires a different reamer for the Alpha brass (they call it the 6 BR Alpha reamer spec).

I think, as long as you aren't dealing with 20 year old equipment, or Alpha equipment, anything labeled 6 BR will be compatible with other things like-labeled.

Thanks for all the inputs, I also just got a response from Forster saying its good to use for Lapua Norma, just took them 3 days to answer my inquiries, usually they are quite fast on replies

Nice to see that Forster responded and we confirm that the dies in question works with Lapua 6mm BR Norma brass. Many customers have used these dies and brass for years.

Regards,

Peter

I saw the dies on your site, actually like your price better, however want my dies hone , so its more practical for me to buy direct from them, although noticed you have both the BR and Micro seater, will place the order in the next few coming weeks.

ffgats, what diameter will you specify for the honed FL die?

This is something we are working on to have done locally by Marshall Precision.

Peter

I placed the order just after I spoke with Forster, good to hear you can have hone locally, way more convenient and cheaper, will keep it on mind. Thanks

Thanks, we are considering a little tighter and then bring up a bit to create about .002" tension with TFC mandrel.

Regards,

Peter

My honed Forster die is .265 and I use Laupa brass with a .2725 chamber neck. The expander in the die opens the neck to.266 and loaded round is .268-.2685 for a .002 IF.

Wait, you guys are customizing the neck diameter of your sizing die? Why? Just buy a full length bushing die - which allows you to insert any size bushing to achieve the same result.

Dies of this type include the Whidden and the Redding Type S.

Thanks hunters home, this is helpful and an easy option to get desired neck tension with less brass "working".

Peter

Sizing the neck down and then dragging and expander ball through it is always going to work the brass harder. Not to mention the expander ball is likely to create runout in the neck along with stretching of the neck

THIS. The best part about a bushing sizer is there is no need for an expander ball.

Expanding a neck by .001 with an expander induces no run-out nor does it over work the case neck in a properly spec'd honed die. Standard sizing dies that overly size the case body and neck then opened up are certainly prone to overworking. Bushing dies are an option but have their downsides also. They are prone to induce donuts and if just using a bushing with no other type of expansions pushes all neck defects to the inside where you don't want them. Redding has bushing dies that incorporate an expander to try to get away from these issues. Another good option for neck sizing and IF is the Lee Collet die. JMO
