I just got one and am trying to get it set up..

I'm having issues getting it consistent in the holder and i find I get some friction when i'm rotating the shell. Plus, does the ball point indicator have to be at a 90 degree angle to the casing or can it be a little angled? Reason i'm asking is that when I have it at a 90 degree angle and the dial holder lined up I am pretty close to the furthest in the indicator will travel with a 308 pilot and casing.

Come to think of it. i don't know if the casings I have here are resized yet or not. i can't remember.

Any tips from any of you who have this device?

I have one and use for 308 alot. I took the little silver v-piece that holds the shell/bullet up and removed it and polished it down to prevent friction/marking of case/bullet. I try to set up the indicator point as close to 90 as possible. When I put an unloaded case into it I only push it back just far enough to compress the spring on the plunger about 3/16 to a 1/4 inch. I find it to be a very accurate tool and quick to set up and use. Hope this helps.

See.. I thought the silver vee tool was for resting the bullet on for measuring that, while you use the reverse side with pilot for empty casings.

I played around with mine after I posted and got a more consistent placement of the ball. at 90 degree for me with the .308 I was too close to the ball's maximum and the spring was sticking. So I put it on a slight angle and it was very good and accurate after that.

I was sorting my brass with neck thickness variations in three categories, ones greater than .001", around .001" and less than .001" I labeled them: the good, the bad, and the ugly lol.
