After I recieved a false in-stock email from a Canadian distributor (sure many of us got that email LOL) a couple weeks ago... which planted a seed... which I must have one... it is on it's way from Brownells! Horray for me !

I currently have about a half dozen Hornady lock rings and I'm wondering if I should sell them and purchase Forster's rings.... or if Hornady works just as good in terms of specs/tolerances and minimizing run out.

Has anyone here used both types of lock rings in this press ?

I can’t see a difference in making the ammo but I’m sure I read that Aluminium lock rings should be used to limit wear in the press. This is only in regards to the Forster CoAx

Hornady rings work great. There is an Allen key you can adjust which acts as a keeper for the rings (allows different thickness rings). They all work

Fill us in. I might start accumulating Forster rings...

I am definitely picking a co-ax press when in stock on ebay again.($369US shipped).

Check Brownells frequently.... you can get them a lot cheaper than that. I think they are $325 USD.... plus they always have a discount code for 10% off on orders over $100 (or something like that). Mine came out to $510 CAD all included.

I bought a couple extra Forster rings and changed over my RCBS dies. The RCBS do work in the press, but the Forster rings make for a more snug fit.

I have other dies which are all Whidden and these come with a larger ring that fit very secure in the Co-ax press - they seem to be the same overall thickness like the Forster rings

Thanks for the info... do you know the thickness of your Forster rings ?

I have 2 Co-Ax presses on my loading bench. I never use the RCBS thin, black rings, but change these dies over to the Forster rings.
One of my presses is 30+ years old, and I detect no wear whatsoever on the slot that the rings slide in to. I personally feel that the
Co-Ax is the elite of single stage presses. Dave.

I've used Hornady rings in mine. I ran into one die the other day that has never been used in the CoAx, with a ring on it that wouldn't go in far enough, the dies wound up off centre. Not sure if maybe it is an old RCBS ring or maybe a Lyman. Thought, fine, go find a new Hornady ring set, none around, so ordered the Forster 12 pack, actually cheaper to buy up here than buying out of the US, for a change. And then I had another silly moment and ordered the new style jaw sets as well, those were straight out of Forster. Got those yesterday, try them out this weekend.

Gets my vote as well as the best
