Should I get a FL die and just adjust for my rifle headspace (minimal bump) or get the bushing bump die and do the same?

Seems easier to just use the FL die and adjust for minimal bump?

Anyone here using the forster FL, neck bump or seater dies?

The kit with the FL die and the mic seater die looks nice. I am planning to get 100 or so lapua brass with 175 SMK bullets and do a batch that is all the same.

But before I can actually do any balistic measurements, I guess that I'll have to fire the brass once, and then re-process all for min bump and then have something actually reliable longer term.

I gave up on the forster dies, they look nice and I liked the micrometer seater but after checking the ogive to base measurements on loaded rounds they were all over the map, both with VLD and standard bullets so it wasn't a seater plug issue. to many moving parts and sloppy machine cut threads that took the precision out of precision reloading.

now I run the redding competition dies sets with the micrometer bushing neck sizing die, micrometer bullet seater and of course the body bump die

I use a Forster FL match die to resize my Lapua .308 cases and a Redding comp die to seat the bullets. Cases all come out exactly the same (1.624). Rounds have 1 thou or zero runout.

was it custom honed or just the reg die ?

Why not the forster seat die also?

I want to keep the whole thing as easy as possible, and as repeatable as possible. I somehow dislike the idea of neck bushings, I don't know why.
Imo a good FL die set for proper bump would be more reliable and repeatable.
Plus I have a coax press so the forster dies make sense

It is just the regular die. I have the Forster seater also as they came as a set. I just never used the seater as I already had the Redding in use. I keep the Forster as a spare.

I have the sizer set with a really light cam which forms my cases to 1.624 which is one thou smaller than my chamber (fired cases mic at 1.625). This keeps things as simple as possible for me. I get 9 firings out of my FL sized Lapua brass. I do not anneal or any of that stuff and the rifle still hammers rounds on top of each other.

PTFE tape does wonders
I use forster dies exclusively although I would be very open to Redding comp dies if I had problems. I found the Benchrest seater die was sloppy because the threads were loose so I wrapped the threads with PTFE tape (Plumbers Teflon tape) and it tightened things up which made a big improvement for me
