The fore grip shown is from DD's hunting line of rifles marketed as Ambush Firearms.
Never tried one, so I can't comment as to its utility.

Handgrips are a way around ergonomics.

When the shooter is wearing body armour, there is no "natural" butt pocket. Soldiers are taught to square their plates to the threat and hold the rifle on the chest portion of the vest. Collapseable butts make part of the triangle manageable, but don't solve all the problems. Proper body armour has protection that covers most of the ribcase, and it is harder to raise your arms into a more comfortable position. Then the left hand can't go very far out on the foreend. Hence, 75 new products every SHOT Show to give the shooter something to hang onto.

FWIW, an internet superstar called Instructor Zero uses a front handgrip that looks like a paddle grip off a router. It is offset from the axis of the rifle, hanging off the equipment rail.

I'm looking too for a vertical grip but would like a bipod because will mostly be shooting from a bench . Sorry I can't contribute to this thread but I will say the rifle is beyond awesome ! I love mine !

For run-and-gun stuff, what I find perfect (for me) is a stubby vertical grip used as a rearward hand-stop. It allows me to pull the gun into me and keep it nice and controlled with a thumb-over-bore grip.

I first had a Tangodown vertical grip. It prevented certain shooting positions. I have been toying with the idea of putting it back on my carbine again.

Using the Magpul AFG2 now. I find it slightly more versatile due to its smaller size. I don't care for the angle though and am looking to change it out for a Gear Sector Handstop.

I'm starting to think that keeping the rail slick is going to suit my needs/wants.
