I did a quick search of a few forums and the Ruger site but couldn't find what I'm hoping for...

Does Ruger or an aftermarket company offer offset M77 rings for moving the scope forward? It seems Ruger's only offset rings are meant to move the scope rearward a 1/2". I was hoping to gain 3/4"-1" off eye relief over the standard Ruger rings, getting the ocular closer to lining up with the bolt shroud.....

The scope will probably be the VXIII 1.5-5.

Any ideas? Thanks.:)

I was initially looking at scoping my Hawkeye with a 2-7X26 Burris Timberline. The scope has a really short tube between the objective bell and the turrets and would have required an offset forward ring to accommodate it. I sent Burris an email asking if they had a solution. They suggested a Ruger to Weaver adapter and a set of Zee rings. Should work for you for a forward offset. Never did try it. Went to a Vortex Viper instead.

Thanks for the feedback WW.

I'd prefer not to be adding parts with adaptors, etc. and was hoping for a straight Ruger type ring. I'll probably just use the rings that the rifle came with if nothing like that turns up, I'll have to think on it though...

Thanks again.

No worries, I felt the same way. The fewer number of screws and parts between the scope and the rifle the better. Part of the reason I didn't go that way.

For what it's worth, the specs on eye relief for my Vortex are very close to Leupold's VX3 1-5X20. [3.7-4 (Vortex) vs 3.7-4.4 (Leupy)]. I'm quite happy with the way it's set up and haven't (touch wood) been "bit" yet. I've only shot off the bench so far. Haven't crept the stock yet waiting for that huge bull to take that last step out into the open:D

Cheers

Yeah, the simpler the better, as far as I'm concerned.

As far as the eye relief thing, like you it's not the range time that is a concern, it's the 'fever' that I fear.:D
