Found A Fun And Relatively Rare Savage In 30-30 Win.

Looks to be a model EG but it would have to be made in 1940. Prior to 1940 the EG's weren't checkered and in 1941 they dropped the 30-30 option so it's either a 1940 or it's been messed with.

My guess would be it's been messed with as I've never seen a Savage 99 with a trapdoor buttplate on it before.

Did you take the buttplate off to see if it had matching numbers to the gun?

No, I didnt look under the butt plate yet. I am away at work now. I will be checking it out when I get off work.
It wouldnt suprise me if this rifle was pieced together over the years. It sure looks nice though! And shoots very well!
I have lots of fun shooting in its future! Lots of cast bullet shooting as well!

What brand is this scope base . Congrats on a very , very nice find !!!!!!!!

On post Number 19 (MADDOG) he seems to know the fellow who builds this mount. Maybe try Sending him a PM.

I managed to get mine from a Savage dealer from southern Alberta. I simply was in the right place at the right time, "twice" in one day!!! LOL!
