Found this nice bcd41 sporter. Only bolt release not matching. Bore is good to VG. too bad the wood has been cut... Well, a replacement is coming!

It look a little bit weird because the receiver is dated 1941, but the serial look to be a 1943 serial (double letter FF)...

This is a very odd duck.

Note the 37 dated Erma barrel. Also the ff suffix. They didn't make it that far in 41. Also 2 digit serials on some bolt parts, could have been post war refurb or certain depots or armourer repair possibly.

FF has nothing to do with year. Just serial suffix.

Can you post clear photos of any marking on the wood and on top of the receiver, and all waffenamts?

Thanks for the info. I tought about the depot build, but cant find any roman marking and the stock has been badly sanded, so no more marking except under the barrel when action removed from stock. Seem to have a matching serial there and another number. I was thinking about the date reading Richard Law book about the K98. He put serial for

bcd (1941) starting: 176 highest: 3685q
bcd (1942) starting: 3225 highest: 8203p
bcd (1943) starting: 450 highest: 5138ff

It is a rifle i have found in the local ad. It was very cheap, so i almost didnt look at the rifle when buying it, too afraid of getting too excited in front of the seller. He told me it was a bringback, but buy the rifle, not the story! I am also very lucky it has a matching rear band beacause rifle was sporterised.

here are more pictures. Tell me if you would like more:

Thanks

there is no final proof on top of receiver. The only proof is the 1 on the side

I think i may be a depot built rifle. Are they all marked with roman numerals?

What is the meaning of the C2 after the 7,92 on the receiver?

Erma supplied a lot of parts to the depots and armorers. 0,2 means armorers spare, the 1 is actually an "l" and is the code for Astrawerke which supplied receivers and many other parts.

I see you've posted it over on The K98k Forum and I'm curious as to what will be said about it.
