what am I going to do with a NIB, old style, blind mag Ti in 7mmSAUM?....put it in my 284 bore "collection"..or swap the barrel for my nearly new 300SAUM tube....and ream it to WSM?..shorten the tube to 22" and flute it to move the balance point rearward?...it'll definetly get a floorplate right quick...have a couple of those in the parts pile...

decisions....decisions....

My vote is to leave it as is and put it in your collection. But that is kind of boring, isn't it?

I say make a 7 WSM, add an HS Mag system, add either a lwt HS or McMillan hunting stock, and put a nice light 4x or (3-9X B&C Leupold) and your set for everything.

I'd rather have the SAUM than the WSM, just due to the shoulder being less sharp. Don't have either right now, but maybe. If the brass ever dries up, then ream it to WSM.

"if brass ever dries up"...you mean like how 222 brass "dried up"...VERY few new rifles chambered in 222 for many years now...or how 284 Winchester brass has "dried up"...very few new rifles have been chambered in 284 for years now....or maybe how 225 Winchester brass has "dried up" I've seen it for sale in a couple shops lately...brass supply never really "dries up" in my opinion...just maybe a bit harder to find but always out there....and NEVER would I let it influence a rifle buying decision...
7SAUM brass can always be made from any WSM case as well....besides for a "hunting rifle" a hundred brass would last me the rest of my hunting life....

That was my point, leave it as a SAUM. I don't worry about brass either....:)

So I take it she is a bit front heavy like my 300SAUM? I would like to hear some results if you did chop it and flute it.

7SAUM brass can always be made from any WSM case as well

The two cases have different base diameters. The WSM is 5 thou bigger at the web than the SAUM and has a slightly larger diameter - by .001" - rim. The WSM also has a much thinner rim - .040" vs .050" for the SAUM.

So yes a SAUM with a generous chamber may function with cases formed from a WSM case but then again it may not if the case is stuck in the resizing die. ;)

Oh ....................... as for the rifle. If it was me I would leave it as is. The 7SAUM delivers performance equal to the 280AI and that is not a bad thing in my book.

I think you keep, put a bdl floorplate on it, maybe a mcmillan stock. Good bedding job and trigger adjustment and you are now a one gun machine.

Then sell me the Ti 7-08...lol

screw in some purple leupold windage adjustable bases, silver super high rings, gloss elite 3000 3-9x50, and bedliner. Oh im laughing

I'd leave it alone and enjoy the saum as it's a fine cartridge.I am not a fan of the wsm in the rem action as I think that action is to short for the wsm family as bullets have to be seated so deeply.
