Found myself a Marlin 1895 Dark Series

You mentioned it here in public, someone local figured out which store has it and went quickly and snatched it right before you could. That sucks balls, man…

IRG seems to be the place to get these at present, but it'll run you closer to $2300 and you'll have to wait for the next monthly import.

I got the new Ruger/Marlin 1895 brushed stainless 45-70 but with the Magpul furniture on it. I liked the look of the stock and fore end better than the dark series myself. Stock holds 5 rounds under the hinged cheek piece. It has a peep site, but I dropped on a Vortex Red Dot. Also screwed on a Spearhead Machine muzzle brake.
Some debate how much a brake helps on a lower velocity round like a 45-70 helps, but I can notice a difference and it looks dead ###y...
I reload and found the Campro 405 grain bullets shoot well out of it with mid range loads with either 3031 or H322. It sure pops our heavy 100 yard gong with authority!
My only 45-70 lead mold exceeds the overall allowable cartridge length unfortunately, although they can be single loaded and shoot accurately with the gas check design.

Reload, reload, reload! Plinker to Pachyderm at a fraction of the cost 😀
Reloading 45-70 offers huge savings over factory, even better with cast bullets which work great, although Campro bullets are a economical choice as well. No need to shoot Barnes, Hornady bullets or the like for general range use.

Full power 45-70 in a lightweight lever gun is a challenge on your shoulder. A friend just had to have one of the Guide Guns and after spending the money on gun and ammo discovered the thing kicks like a mule and the ammo is pretty expensive. It got sold off fairly quickly.
These guns were primarily designed with men in mind. Sorry about your hurt shoulder and hurt feelings …🤣
