I was rooting through my gun room last night. Found some 30-30 rounds I had reloaded in 1980. The loads had 3031 powder and 150 grain psp. I knew enough to single load these rounds. It would have been a few years before that when I broke into the reloading world, probably around 1970ish. I bought a LEE Loader kit for 30-30, along with a part can of 3031. I don't recall how I ended up with primers and bullets. Sometime after 1974, I purchased the LYMAN press, other reloading supplies and dies for several calibers from Casey's Reloading in Midland, ON. At the time, I had a matched set of Canadian Centennials. My old friend and I used them to hunt whitetail. I used the carbine and he would use the rifle. The rifle has since got stolen and never recovered.
I found some more tonight that I had reloaded with 3031 and 150 grain round nose Sierra. Likely both these batches were loaded on my Lyman Spar-T press. I still enjoy reloading, perhaps even more so, now that I have access to the internet. I have never stopped learning about reloading. A trip back in time. Some good memories.
