found winchester 1894

The United States government purchased 1,800 commercial Model 1894s with 50,000 .30-30 cartridges during World War I. These rifles in the 835800 to 852500 serial number range were marked atop the receiver ring with a flaming bomb and "U.S."

Edit to add, this was quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Model_1894

I'm now just seeing that there are more numbers in your serial than I have quoted here,my mistake, sorry.

Above average SRC wood but bbl and sights are questionable; I prob wouldn't want to pay over 250 for it for parts. If bore is really good,TLC maybe needing some minor parts could take it to approx $400 shooter not much more. I think some of us see the best route for this one as TLC and swap out with worse wood and sell as a good cheaper shooter!
