Fox Sterlingworth SxS 12GA

Also i just plan on shooting light target loads (lead) thru this Fox. Is there any reason i shouldn't shoot it all that much?? It's in good shape and i want to use it lots if i can. Any suggestions? Like take it out a couple times a year or just let her buck!?

I would just shoot it and have fun....might be worth taking it to a gunsmith for a quick once over as well....Just a thought...:D

I suggest that if your not going to shoot it all that much then you should just sell it.......to me!!!:D

But seriously any input on how frequently it is good to shoot this any input would be great. I'd love to shoot it as much as possible but i don't want to ruin a good collector when i should be picking up a $400 newer 12ga to shoot the sh!t out of........ any thoughts?? As I mentioned would be light target loads all the time

Assuming that the lock up is tight to begin with, you should be safe to put thousands of rounds through it without stressing the gun. If you'd rather be safe than sorry, grab a flat of those Pure Gold loads and fuggetaboudit. Besides having the advantage of generating lower pressures, they are sweeeet loads. They pattern exceptionally well through these vintage guns with fixed chokes (and hit just as hard as any target load).

The added cost means this isn't practical for target shooting but, other than at the patterning board, I wouldn't use a nice old girl like that on targets anyway.

Yeah i will try some of the Pure Gold. I actually called P&D after viewing your 2 1/2" thread but they said they didn't have any!? It wasn't long after you posted either. Maybe they were out or something.

The action on the Fox is pretty tight, i guess i'll run light target loads and 2 1/2" and keep an eye on it and go from there! Thanks......

You must've talked to the wrong person. They had them in stock just last week. (unlikely that I caused THAT much of a run on them)
