Fr8

The FR8 is an intelligent modernized military Mauser. From the buttplate to the middle band, the stock is the same. The backsight is an adjustable dial welded on the rear bridge - where it should have been all along. The magazine follower is a bit different, and the feed ramps have been nudged. The Spaniards put on a short .308 barrel and a modern flash suppressor. I especially like the combo front sight and cleaning kit holder.

The one concern I have about Mausers is the trigger rocks on the underside of the reciever. Unless that spot is hard enough, years of trigger pulls (99% of which will be while unloading) wear down that spot.

I have one. I won't be selling it anytime soon. ;)

I've heard rumours about some of the FR8 stocks being warped. Something to look out for.

I have a nice FR8 and FR7 in my collection and have only shot the FR7. Its not very heavy on the front end, but that can be corrected by putting some shot in the cleaning kit under the barrel.
I like the Brazilian 308 conversion the M968 more than the FR series.

I have one of the Columbian 30-06 carbines in excellent condition, that I bought or traded for years ago.
I never fired it but it may naver have been fired, will have to check.
Another rifle that has been built in 7.62 is the Chilean Model 1912. The example

I have in my collection has
MODELO 1912-61
NATO

It dos not mention the Caliber just NATO, but 61 was after the NATO countries adopted the 7.62-51 round.
