Any options like stock cloning or fabrication in Canada. Cant find a buttstock for a Franchi 48al in 12 gauge. Pic of inlet type below. Been posting wanted ads for quite awhile now with no luck. If anyone knows a source let me know pls.
I bought one with a banged up, broken stock and an apparent replacement a while back. But the replacement was for the newer model (without those little lips). It wouldn't really even go on, remained loose and interfered with the action. It would have required professional fitting and my gunsmith guy said it would cost at least a couple of hundred bucks.
So I took apart the broken stock, filed all the pieces to create a reasonable set of fitting parts, fabbed a couple of replacement parts from a similar piece of wood, epoxied the hell out of them, sanded and refinished until strong as ox and refitted. Looked pretty good and shot real nice.
Everywhere I looked in the US had the newer stock, although you might try shop.macongunstocks.com/Franchi-Shotgun-Stocks_c16.htm. They seem to have a selection of repro stocks, but can't tell from the picture which generation they have or if they can do the lipped version.
