Anyone out there own a Franchi Instinct SL Shotgun? They look interesting to me. I'm looking for a 20 gauge. Any site sponsors stock Franchi?

I think it would be a great shotgun for ruffed grouse and busting clays.

My brother in law had 12 gauge and it was a nice gun. Also one friend has 20gauge. They like them. I tried shooting and other than being
on light side very nice guns. My brother in law sold his in order to get cynergy as a dedicated trap gun. I will be looking soon into a trap gun and it will be either citori or cynergy.

Still nice guns.

I have a Renaissance which is essentially the same gun and like it for upland and even with heavy 13/8 oz loads for late season pheasants it's manageable. The trigger is not the best but it has improved with use and I love the light weight for long walks on uneven terrain.

The instincts are great guns....you obviously you know about their light weight, but they are also a very nice pointing/swinging gun. Quick target aquisition is important with upland hunting, and franchi's guns are perfectly tailored for that. I have used it for trap, and although its not the ideal gun for clays because of its weight, its not that bad. If you're primarily hunting with the occasional clays game, the franchi is more then adequate.

I shoot the Affinity - (1000 - 2000 shells a year) best shotgun I have ever owned (and I have owned a lot including Berreta's) buy with confidence and ignore the clowns who talk crap about them

Couldnt agree with you more! I've owned 8 Franchi's over the years, and currently have 4 and they are fantastic guns....both over/under and semi-auto. Those clowns you refer too have told me plenty of times that i should buy Beretta/Benelli/Browning guns and i'll notice the difference. Well the truth is, I also have Beretta's/Brownings/Benelli's and although I love them....the first gun I pull out of my safe to go on a hunting trip or a day out busting clays, is usually one of my Franchi's.

I've shot the renaissance 12. Nice gun, but the safety was not crisp. A comment on weight - I have a 5 lb 10 oz beretta ultralight 12. It's an awesome low volume hunting gun for woodcock and ruffed grouse, where shots tend to require instant target acquisition in tight cover, but for pheasant where a good swing and follow through are required I much prefer my full-weight beretta 687 at 7 lbs 4oz.

I've shot a few hundred rounds through an Instinct 20ga.

Pros - handles well, nice looking, good value

Cons - On the gun I was using the safety/barrel selector switch was grindy/gritty and did not snap neatly into place when selecting a given barrel or safe/fire. Sometimes it would feel like it engaged, only to be knocked out of position while shooting. For example it was not uncommon after the first shot for the gun to switch itself into the safe position, or switch itself back to the barrel you just fired (either of these neuters your second shot). Not sure if this problem is endemic or if mine was just a lemon. Nice gun in all other respects.
