Franchi Momentum All Terrain Elite 308 - Simple Review

Gentlemen (Ladies Too),

This is just me posting a soft good and not-so good review of the Franchi Momentum, All-Terrain Elite in 308 that I took out over the course of this week.
This isn't an in-depth review but I can answer some questions you might have.

Overall I believe Franchi created a wonderful 308 Scout Rifle Concept that follows the "Spirit" of Jeff Cooper's wishes. Even if it's not to the exact specifications.

The Good:

• Franchi does guarantee a 1-Moa with a 3 shot group @ 100 yards with Premium Factory
• Great Smooth Action, 60 Degree Bolt Throw
• Compatible with AICS
• Has an Extended Scope Rail for a Scout Optic if you desire
• Awesome Trigger that can be modified easily 3-4ish lbs, Single Stage
• Heavier Barrel is great, allows for longer strings of fire without worrying about accuracy knockdowns
• 18" Barrel, Handy in the forest

The Not-Good:

• Little to none in aftermarket support
• Heavy, 7.3-7.5 lbs bare naked
• Stock Forearm is thick. Great for Bipod with ARCA Rail and balance, Not Good if you are just carrying in on your own
• Limited Calibers (Only offered in 308 and 223 Rem as of this date so far)
• Price Point (Other rifles can be had for cheaper like the Ruger American Gen 2 Series)

Equipment Used:

• Caldwell Lead Sled 4
• Bushnell R7 2-10x42 Riflescope
• Federal Premium 168 gr SMK
• Hornady Black 155 ELD Match

After Ranging the optic I got a great 0.6 MOA (Minus my awful flyer) for my group @ 100 yards. It liked Federal, did not like Hornady Black as much (But it was still decent)

Used Federal 150 Gr to Shoot Steel at 200 yards and it pinged just as well at center mass

Had a great time with this rifle and I also fell in love with the new Bushnell R7 series too.

I own the 308 and really like it as well - can get good accuracy with a red dot at 100 yards.

Good summary. I mounted a LPVO on mine. Only 2 negatives for me were the flip up sights (they are functional but would prefer metal) and the cheek riser which I cemented in place because I found that the clip system would loosen up after a few mags. Accuracy, fit and finish, reliability and utility of the rifle has met all of my expectations.

Someone should try a scout optic on this one and see if it is a good medium between an LVPO and a Red Dot. I think it would do great with a scout scope too.
