Is anyone noticing any Franchi shipments at their local shops?

I am looking for an Instinct SL 20ga with 26" barrels but there doesnt seem to be one for sale in Canada.

I have contacted a few places all say they are back ordered. Prophet says they can get one but its estimated 3 months to import. Id import but I want to make sure the shotgun is here with enough time to do the paperwork to take the gun into Montana this october.

They are well made and has great wood for the money, but they kick, and they kick hard if you use the Federal Prairie Storm loads.

I got to play around with a 20ga L last summer, put about a case of shells through it. The safety/barrel selector is a single button (not two separate buttons like on a Beretta). The button on the gun I was shooting was sticky and grindy. It did not click nicely into place when selecting barrels. Sometimes when you go to select a barrel, you don't realize the button isn't fully clicked over - so the switch ends up partway between the two positions and the gun will not fire. Sometimes firing the gun would knock the switch out of position and once again, the gun would not fire the second shot until the switch was put back into position. Sometimes firing the gun would inadvertently engage the safety after the first shot. This was a brand new gun I was shooting. Perhaps it was just a lemon, but some reviews I read also alluded to problems with the safety/selector switch. It was otherwise a great gun, handled and shot well, and the price is decent. Hopefully they don't all have a bad switch.

I have Franchi Renaissance which is very similar to the SL and I like it. The safety/selector was stiff and a bit rough when I got it but I took the rear stock off and cleaned the trigger group and it was much better so I suspect there was some grit in the safety. The gun has been reliable but is not the quality of a Berretta or Browning but I like the light weight in a field gun and of course it's nearly half the price of a "B" gun.

The Instict SL and Renaissance are virtually identical. The renaissance is just much fancier with the scroll work on the receiver and has the TSA recoil pad. I own both guns and barrels and fore end stocks are interchangable. Both guns kick like a mule, so they are not suitable for trap shooting. Im currently selling one of my Renaissance 12g guns..if anyone is interested

I bought an instinct L 20 gauge last spring when they first hit the market .I didn't like the long travel of the trigger plus it was on the heavy side . second problem I incountered was the forarm shot loose within the first flat of shells the barrel lug was soft and stretched . need less to say I moved it on shortly after that .
