So whats the deal, with not being able to find this stuff.
I did see some 556 frang on a CGN dealers web page the other day and people were looseing there minds over it.
Is there some kind of law that's says we cant import this.
I know RAUG does not seem to want to sell that to the public, but are there any Canadian laws that says you cant have it?
out of the loop on this one :(

NRCAN will no longer approve frangible ammo for commercial sale. I am not sure what their issue is, but as a result no dealers can import for sale. What is sold at ranges is for use at the range.

target sports wants $30 per box of 20 and you have to shoot it there or give it back for them to hold it until you come back.

the closest thing to frangible i can finds is varmint grenades, but they have a copper jacket that target sports won't allow. however the Remington stuff they allow shows a copper jacket right on the box. i should buy one to confirm and then ask to see if i would be allowed to use reloads.

Strangely enough there is actually a company who manufactures the projectiles within a stones throw of Target Sports. As far as I know they do not sell to the public (in consumer quantities)I know they do government contracts for projectiles and solid fuel engines. Quite possible they would sell publicly if the quantity was large enough. I came across them by chance through work.

I thought Target wouldn't let you shoot frangible that had a wash or jacket on them ie Remington Varmint, Federal Frangible and Barnes Grenade. Did that policy change?

The only Canadian frangible ammo manufacturer that I know of is Sterling Cross. Even though they mention producing for the law enforcement, military and civilian commercial sector, I've never seen their products sold in any Canadian civilian market.

It's possible that someone brought them in and left the box, I've seen birdshot hulls on the floor so it wouldn't surprise me. If I remember I will ask the next time I go to the range.

Cool! Thanks. I might be going there this week with a buddy who recently became a member. I'll ask them if I make it there before you do.

You'll likely be there before I do, so ask as I will likely forget. I also meant to ask them if they had any issues when they started using barnel 9mm ammo in their range guns.

Is this a Cukier'ism? must be as deadly as 25 and 32 acp? Whats the deal? Is it more scary then soft point? Do they paint the bullets black or something?

LOL, supposedly the backstop can't handle high velocity jacketed ammo. They're supposed to replace the backstop so you can shoot almost anything but when that is, who knows.

Probably during the week after work or possibly Monday afternoon/evening depending on the time my buddy gets back from the cottage.
