Frankin BP

I came across a BP that stumped me a while back. Its was different. It took a bot of time to figure out what it was.

Its a .45 cal muzz but built into a old crack barrel shotgun. It has side hammer and all and nipple. whomever did the work knew what they were doig thats for sure. I would like to hear from anyone who has come across one as well.

The brass plate with NR on it covers where the hammer was. the flat head slot was the lever to break it. I sure hope someone could shed some light on it

Interesting! Very nicely done! I imagine the original hammer setup was converted to a sidehammer boxlock, a tumbler replacing the hammer.
I've never seen anything like it.

Crickey, that certainly is an “original” piece!

And the fore-end retainer brass escutcheons indicate that it's 'neither fish nor fowl', a subtle touch.
