Hey all, going on my first hunt in the FV hopefully. Going for geese. Have my insurance, tags, and licenses. (stamps)

I have been studying the map of where you can and can't hunt and it's fairly confusing...you can hunt at Boundary Bay, but 180 meters from the road?

You can hunt areas of Ladner?

Some advice on where to go and what to do for a first time would be great, this will be our first time and I don't want to end the day in handcuffs.

All the best,

House.

Read and Re-read the Fraser Valley map.
It is confusing and convoluted along with the split seasons.
It eventually will become clearer than mud.
The season is in a wind down with Snow geese and Brant the main game animal of choice.
Season ends March 10th so youll have lots of time till next fall.
Btw, they dont put you in cuffs for minor game infractions...they just away your gun truck and license and issue you some tickets, lol.

If you look at the Fraser Valley regs map there are places in Boundary Bay where you have to be 180 metres from the DIKE, not the road, and others, to the east where you must be 150 metres from the dike.

In Ladner you can hunt on the water side of the dike at Brunswick Point at the end of River Road but you must be 150 metres from the dike. Be extremely careful out there, you have to watch the tides. If you walk out seaward at a low tide and cross a few ditches, if the tide comes in and you have to wade in knee deep or even only ankle deep water on your way back you won't see where those deep ditches are. It's been a while, but people have died there.

The regs say "seaward of the toe of the dyke."

The toe is the base of the dyke where it meets the natural ground level on the seaward side.

watch the tides x2.

if you can, go with someone who is familiar with that area.

By the time you realize the tide is coming up, you can be caught by the tide coming in faster than you can nagivate back. Its worse when the night flight was excellent and you are retrieving birds. And it looks different on the way back. Haha.

Also, pickup any shells you see with reason. That place is turning into a major eye sore for hunters.

Good luck
