The ORA will be conducting a 300 and 400m practice on Sunday, July 5th at Cedar Springs Rifle Range. Non ORA members are welcome for the cost of a $40 guest fee. Paid markers will cost an additional $20 for the day. I have a supply of free 7.62 NATO, DA or IVI for those wishing to shoot it. The only catch is you don't get to take any home with you at the end of the day.

Start time is 8 am for first shot down range at 9 am. This is not a roll in-roll- out event, so except to stay all day. If you arrive after 8:30 don't except to be squadded on the first relays. Bring a lunch.

If you do not know where Cedar Springs Rifle Range is, find an Ontario road map. Cedar Springs is between London and Windsor, near the city of Chatham and the town of Blenheim, about 15 minutes from the 401. If you plan to attend please PM me and I can give you more detailed directions.

So let's see all those 1/4 MOA Savage's and Remington's I keep hearing about.

Edit to add, Sorry no .50 Cals, magnums or muzzle breaks.

No real long range(1000 yards) at Cedar Springs any more but 300 and 400m is long range for some people. I keep hearing about these 1/4 moa Savages and Remingtons that everyone on CGN seems to have but have never seen one on the range or the shooter that can prove it to me.

noi, contact me about future dates at Cedar Springs and maybe I can set something up with a loaner riflle for the day in 7.62 NATO:cool:

I'm way up North, and need a rifle too.:D

I was going to get a LH VSF several years ago in .308 Win, and one in .223 Rem. I had fun shooting a friend's .223 Rem Rem 700 VS in varmint matches in the States, but I wanted to buy my own rifle.

Unfortunately, I don't have the dough right now, and I haven't found any decent ranges around here yet.

I hope you guys have a good time though!:)

Just harshing you dude, this is a way cool thing you're doing. It would be neat to see this offered at other facilities around the country.
 
WHAT? No body wants free 7.62? We had a great day on the range but no one showed up for any free ammo. Maybe I have to charge a buck a round to get people to come out, I don't know?

OK, we also have a practice date at Cedar Springs on July 26th, same deal.
Show up with your $40 ORA guest fee and maybe an extra $20 if we can find some paid marker for the day and shoot some free ammo.

would a new open sighted M-14 be welcome there?

Id love to actually shoot his thing one day, but there arent too many places in windsor/essex...

If not, i might have to get a 308 hunting boltgun and come for the next one.

how about 1919-A4?

Your M-14 will work, the closest distance we shoot is 300m and the bulls eye is 5 1/2 inches;) Now I am not sure what permits you would need for the 1919-A4, however your club ATT is not valid for DND ranges.
 
Would it be worthwhile to try and shoot 300m with this m14? Its got 20 rounds downrange and shot decent at the poop 25 yard range here. What would one need to bring along. id guess i need a spotting scope? might be able to borrow one from a bud.
Any other info would be cool.

Not serious on the 1919, its a semi and its not got all its parts yet!

In the US they still shoot M-14's at 600 and 1000 yards.

Things to bring....Hearing protection, spotting scope or binos(spotting scope is better), something to lay on (we only shoot prone). hat, sun screen, water, chair, ammo, money for guest fee and maybe paid markers, some kind of rest to shoot off of (unless you want to be like a He-man target shooter) lunch, more water, PAL and firearm certs, paper and pencils if you want to record your shots.

Things you might want to pack in the car... Rain gear, rifle tools, cleaning rod.
