Free, Cheap Decoys

You might try making silhouette decoys out of roofing tar paper. They work well for field shooting, obviously not so great in the water...

No need to paint or add colour for ducks, just leave'em black. Staple two pieces together to get a little thicker if you like (I do) and you can staple on a stake on if you want. I don't use stakes with mine. I just set them up in the stubble.

I've had excellent results in grain fields using about 40 of these silhouettes and a 1/2 doz store bought full body decoys. I'm experimenting on making some goose decoys the same way. BTW, any decoys work waaaaay better if you use a call. Duck calls and instructional CD are a great investment and with very little effort/practise can double or triple the effectiveness of your decoy spread.

I have a box of duck and goose silos made from those plasticy corragated election signs. (about all a politician is good for!)
Dirt cheap to make and last forever. A chunk of styrofoam with slits in it could turn them into floaters.

any other way to help SH?
like a small donations?

ps; went through BassPro last night, they had duck decoys for $5.99 or $6.99(I cant remember which)

Great suggestion,... this guy just goes out a few times a year and i thought I'd see if anyone had some cheap or beater decoys to give away or sell cheap..

We scrounged up 7,... and that should just about do the trick..

Thanks

My wife's grandfather used to make goose decoys out of old tire tubes, wood and a bit of paint. Very cheap, yet very effective and easy to transport.

I don't have any pics but with a bit of imagination it is pretty easy to figure out.
