Free Float a Remington 700 SPS 243 Win

After firing ten rounds, I had a 5 inch group and a 7 inch group at 200 m.
One of the pressure point tabs is marking the barrel.
Can they be free floated? Bedded? or Pillar Bedded?
Might be a good time to dig out a Birchwood MacMillan patterned stock . . .

yes it can be bedded, and sand out the pressure points

I just Pillar bedded my nephews SPS in a 243, Worked like a charm.

First thing to do is take the action out of the stock. Sand out the pressure point, make sure the action and stock are bone dry and put it back together and torque the screws. Try again before bedding it, I am sure the groups will be reduce to less than half of what you are getting now. Bedding will improve it more.
