Maybe it is just me but what it the point of putting free float railed forends on short barrel QCB type AR's? I can see the gain with floating a mid to long range rig like 14.5" to 20". However, the only good reason that might make sense is that you plan on hanging so much #### off of it that it would cause the bolt and barrel to be out of line with each other if it was not floated. So what is the real deal on this?

Is there anything to gain from floating a 14.5" barrel? I doubt it. I've cranked on my 20" heavy barrel with a good leather sling and didn't see a change in my poi.

I think its just for the rails. Once you have rails, you can add rail covers. Way cool.;)

I do find that I pull the POI off when I use a sling but over all they are a pita as far as cleaning and maintaince goes. My service rig is FF but my 14.5" and my 20" A4 upper are not.

YES

Both for bolt longevity and the ease of adding accessories w/o zero change.

And why not -- the rails are very similar in cost.

But WTF do I know
