free floating barrel 10/22

I think for the most part, people don't do that because the way the barrel goes on to the receiver with the block isn't strong enough to hang off of all the time. It needs some support...

That's what I think anyways.

Get a free floated stock! The receiver is pleny strong enough to free float. You can loose the barrel band anytime! Mine has the BLACKHAW Knox Axiom R/F stock. You can use the factory or bull barrel. Shoots a 1/2 groups at fifty yards!

Yes

i have a 10/22 carbine, is there a way to make it free floating?

Bed a couple of inches in front of the receiver then gouge out the wood from there forward -
Thats enough support for even the heaviest of barrels -
In spite of the Volquartsen front support pad design for free float barrels - Not needed if bedding in front of receiver.
