Hello everyone,

A quick question regarding Free Floating barrels. I own a Tikka T3 Tac which according to Tikka comes standard with a free floating barrel. From what I have read regarding these barrels, they are not supposed to touch any part of the stock and are just connected to the receiver. Recently I did the old paper test (as seen bellow) and found to my suprise that the barrel actually touches alot of the stock. Is this normal or do I own a lemon?

Cheers

First off, how does it shoot? Secondly some gunsmiths do bed the first few inches under the barrel shank ,while others don't. It isn't too much work to remove the action from the stock, wrap some sandpaper around a wooden dowel(broom handle) and get rid of the tight spot.

Heres my savage, its free floated. Needs a lil touch up though, went a lil crazy with milling machine. Cheers!

Radical that is one sweet looking rifle.....however we stray from the topic at hand.

Tack308 if your shooting .75 MOA i don't think anything is wrong with it. Maynard has it correct it, in some cases they will bed a little bit of the barrel.

"...My groups are .75MOA with crappy remmington UMC ammo..." Rule Number One. It works, don't fix it. Mind you, working up a load with match grade bullets might get you to half an inch.
