hey guys, looking to get my first AR right away. Anyways I'm leaning towards a Wyndham however I'm gonna swap out the factory handguard and delta ring, a2 post for a free float key mod. I've been looking at MI hand guards as they seem to be reasonably priced. Anyways, couple questions for ya'll

1- any other recommendations for a free float key mod handguard in the 300$ or less range?

2- after removing the a2 post and swapping for a low profile gas block, are there any other steps or parts I need to order to install the handguard once the delta rings is removed?

Thanks

I actually never thought of Troy. I will take a look. Bike, as for the BCM, it's pretty much exactly what I want, however I'm looking for a slightly longer handguard as I plan to go with a 14" barrel. If I was gonna run a 10.5", I'd be all over that!

i have a kac urx as well 10.75 inch :)

If you said that you had a 12" forend for under 300$ I'd be sending you money. Thanks anyways

It's not Keymod, but have you considered the Daniel Defense Omega Rail? It's a true free float drop in part that requires NO Mods. You can switch back and forth between your original handguards and the DD Omega. Wolverine Supplies currently has the 12" on sale.

Yes I actually have. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's designed to keep to a2 post in place and I was looking for a more streamlined (front BUIS no A2 post) look. Thanks though.

I have a 12 inch ALG forend I bought at Tier One Armoury for under $200, and my 12 inch AP customs carbon fiber forend from Phoenix was right around $200. Neither is keymod but both are continuous top rail and have a couple short rail sections that can be bolted on wherever you like.
I'm not concerned about keymod and M-lok as they are just flavor of the week, next year there will be a new greatest thing and everyone will want it. The regular bolt on rail sections are not as fast or convenient to move around but honestly how often does someone move stuff around. Once I have my bottom rail section in the right spot I swap back and forth between a vertical grip and a bipod, I don't run side rails because I like my rifles light and simple and hanging lasers and lights serves me no functional purpose at the gun range.

I also have a 12 inch Troy Alpha on my other AR. All are quality and other than the ALG they all use a standard barrel nut. The AP Customs forend requires you to remove the barrel nut to install their mount system.
I used to have a Samson Evolution forend on an AR I sold and it was nice as well, I can't remember what they used for a mount system though. Same with the Apex Gator grip forend that was on my AR-10. Just know I liked them :)
